Boğaziçi Ventures Invests 2,750,000 TL in Funrika!

Boğaziçi Ventures, which establishes and manages funds that invest in technology companies, has invested 2,750,000 TLin Funrika, a studio developing hybrid casual games, through its BV Growth fund that focuses on early-stage startups in gaming, fintech, digital health, and retail technologies.

Founded in 2011 by Cem Köne and Can Köne, Funrika has been developing mobile-focused games since its inception and most recently achieved success with its game Top Race.

The investment was announced for the first time during a YouTube live event, where Boğaziçi Ventures hosted Funrika’s co-founders Cem Köne and Can Köne. The discussion covered the position of hybrid casual and hypercasual genres in the market, their business models, future outlook, and emerging trends.

“I believe the team is very close to success.”

Boğaziçi Ventures co-founder Burak Balık emphasized that the team has been active in the startup ecosystem for a long time and is now very close to achieving major success:

“Before deciding on an investment, we have certain criteria we evaluate. If a team meets these criteria, we proceed. Funrika meets all of them. When we assessed their vision, background, and ambition to become a unicorn, everything aligned perfectly with our strategy.”

Funrika co-founder Cem Köne highlighted their focus on competition as the core element of their games, noting that it keeps players engaged and increases retention:

“Players get bored of single-player experiences very quickly. Multiplayer games allow them to socialize, which makes them more loyal to the game.”

Funrika is also continuously enhancing the user experience in their AI-based multiplayer game Top Race, which incorporates elements of both competition and chance. The team added:
