This week, the key highlights on Turkey’s investment agenda include developments in the Gulf region and innovations within BV Portfolio funds. In this article, we will elaborate on these two important topics.

Investment Activity in the Gulf Region

Recently, we have begun to see the impact of the President’s visits to the Gulf region and the agreements signed during these trips. Gulf investors, who had long been distant from Turkey, are now more open to evaluating investment opportunities. The investment traffic that began last week looks set to accelerate in the coming weeks. My expectation is that investors from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain will focus on investment funds as well as on profitable, late-stage technology companies, with interest in both investment and acquisition options.

BV Portfolio Management and Gaming Technology Funds

The BV Portfolio Management Inc.’s Gaming and Technology Variable Fund delivered a 32% return in a short time. Launched just four months ago, this fund invests in global gaming and gaming technology companies. The fund’s portfolio includes shares of major companies ranging from Chinese giant Tencent to Japan’s Nintendo. Particularly through well-timed positions in Activision Blizzard and Nvidia, the fund has delivered significant gains for investors. The core strategy of the fund is to closely monitor the gaming sector and related fields, anticipate developments that will be reflected in company financials, and position itself accordingly.

Generative AI and Its Impact on Companies

Recently, many AI tools—led by ChatGPT—have entered our lives. Companies are now asking questions such as: Should we establish a department dedicated to AI? Should we integrate AI into our business processes? Should we allocate a budget for this? Ten years ago, we advocated that all companies should adopt a “mobile-first” approach. Today, the same applies to AI. Companies must research how to use AI more efficiently in every department and focus on how to optimize their processes with AI. Otherwise, they will inevitably fall behind in competition within a few years.

Beyond ChatGPT, tools such as GPT-4, Bard, AlphaCode, Midjourney, DALL-E, Claude, Synthesia, Copy.ai, and Soundraw have already begun providing cost and speed advantages to companies. We foresee generative AI solutions making a significant impact especially in creative fields, visual and video production, coding and code review, automated quality assurance processes, and content creation.

BV QUANT and Investor Success

Since its establishment, BV QUANT has delivered returns well above deposit yields for its investors. Particularly for individuals and institutions holding TL deposits and seeking alternatives, BV QUANT has proven highly successful as a statistical arbitrage fund. By executing ultra-fast trades in nanoseconds using AI, the fund has delivered high TL-based returns, exceeding investor expectations.

Royal Match and Dream Games’ Success

Dream Games, Turkey’s second unicorn gaming company, continues its strong growth with its game Royal Match. In the first half of 2023, Royal Match generated over $300 million in revenue, making it the 8th highest-grossing game globally. The top 10 list includes companies from China, Japan, the US, Israel, and Turkey.
