According to CB Insights’ State of AI Q2’25 report, private AI companies received a total of $47.3 billion across 1,403 rounds in the second quarter of 2025. With OpenAI’s massive $40 billion round in the first quarter, the total investment in the first six months reached $116.1 billion, exceeding 2024’s total of $105.7 billion. This development highlights that investor interest remains strong and unrelenting.

Aventis Advisors’ report shows how the sector has grown rapidly over the past decade. Between 2010 and 2024, around 51,000 AI investment rounds took place. The number of rounds increased every year until it peaked at 6,856 in 2021. Although the number declined to 5,084 in 2024, the total investment amount hit a record high.

While investments continue across areas from AI infrastructure to defense technologies and humanoid robots, model developers and infrastructure providers remain the primary drivers of AI financing with mega rounds. On the other hand, about 72% of deals occur at the early stage (Seed–Series A), showing that a large number of startups continue to secure capital.
